D. Additional requirements

1. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki:

Courses at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are normally taught in Greek. However, there are courses in other languages too, especially at the Foreign Language Faculties, Faculty of Law (courses in English, French and German language), School of Journalism & Mass Communication, and School of Economics. In all other cases, there are special arrangements for LLP/Erasmus students, such as assignment of essays in English with the use of English bibliography in small groups of students.

Information concerning courses and other academic matters can be obtained at the web site of the University http://www.auth.gr/en/faculties

Greek Language courses for Erasmus+ students

There are courses organized specifically for Erasmus+ students with the support of the EU at the beginning of each semester: in October and in March (beginners’ level). Moreover there are on-line courses at the beginning of each semester.

You can find more information at the School of Modern Greek Language of AUTh: http://smg.web.auth.gr/wordpress/?lang=en

There are several fields that Social and Health Policy Committee is getting involved, always aiming to make student life easier so that all students can focus on their academic demands.

Services available

Students with visual impairment

- Converting books or notes in any file the student is using to study (text to speech, print them in Braille etc)

Students with hearing disabilities

- Interpretation in Greek Sign language everywhere in the campus of our University during working hours.

- Co-operation with Hellenic Federation of the Deaf in order to provide sign language interpreters for all lessons of deaf students.

- Unfortunately we do not provide interpretations in other foreign sign languages.

Students with mobility disabilities

- We provide transportation to students with mobility disabilities from their residences to the campus and vice versa in an everyday basis.

Services to all students

- blood donation days

- connect students with other institutions so that they will be given the professional care they need depending on their issue.

2. Rijksuniversiteit Groningen

Special needs students

Students with a mental or physical disability (including dyslexia) may need extra facilities to follow courses and take exams. Please contact your student adviser to discuss any arrangements you need, such as visual aids, extended time for exams, etc. The earlier you do this, the better. Rijksuniversiteit Groningen

Credit system

ECTS is the official Dutch credit system. 60 ECTS credits represent the workload of a full-time student in one academic year. One credit represents 28 student working hours according to the Dutch law on Higher Education. Student working hours include class hours, reading, independent studies, preparation for examinations, etc.

►For the grading system and grading scale used by the Groningen Faculty of Law, please see:

www.rug.nl/rechten/education/international-programmes/exchange/courses/

Grading

In the academic record two grading scales are distinguished: the official Dutch grading scale and the ECTS grading scale. The Dutch grading scale runs from 10 (highest mark) to 1 (lowest mark). The grade 6 is the pass grade. The ECTS grading scale ranks the students on a statistical basis. Therefore, the grade is based on the relative performance of the student compared to other students who have passed the examination. In ECTS the grade A stands for the best 10% of successful students.

The Law Faculty Groningen does not use the ECTS grading scale, but uses a more refined grading scale which represents the students' performances better than the ects scale.

www.rug.nl/rechten/education/international-programmes/exchange/courses/

For more information also see the ErasmusPlus Fact sheet - Groningen Law
