Courses at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are normally taught in Greek. However, there are courses in other languages too, especially at the Foreign Language Faculties, Faculty of Law (courses in English, French and German language), School of Journalism & Mass Communications, School of Economics and School of Political Sciences. In all other cases, there are special arrangements for Erasmus+ students, such as assignment of essays in English with the use of English bibliography in small groups of students.

Information concerning courses and other academic matters can be obtained at the website of the University: http://www.auth.gr/en/faculties

Greek Language courses for Erasmus+ students

There are regular and online Greek language courses, which start at the beginning of each semester. These courses are organized specifically for Erasmus+ students with the support of the EU and are offered free of charge under certain conditions in regard to absences. You can find more information at the School of Modern Greek Language of AUTH: http://smg.web.auth.gr/wordpress/?lang=en

Students with disabilities

Services have been developed and updated according to European and International standards. There are several fields that Social and Health Policy Committee is getting involved, always aiming to make student life easier so that all students can focus on their academic demands.

Services available

Students with visual impairment

- Converting books or notes in any file the student is using to study (text to speech, print them in Braille etc)

Students with hearing disabilities

- Interpretation in Greek Sign language everywhere in the campus of our University during working hours.

- Co-operation with Hellenic Federation of the Deaf in order to provide sign language interpreters for all lessons of deaf students.

- Unfortunately we do not provide interpretations in other foreign sign languages.

Students with mobility disabilities

- We provide transportation to students with mobility disabilities from their residences to the campus and vice versa in an everyday basis.

Services to all students

2. Universidade da Beira Interior

The University of Beira Interior has The "Erasmus Student Network (ESN)". The ESN Covilha is an international nonprofit organization. Its mission is to represent the international students, providing opportunities for cultural knowledge and personal development based on the principle of mutual aid of the students. ESN is active in 36 countries and is constituted by 12,000 members of 396 sections, which work voluntarily with the Universities providing service to 150,000 students. They will help incoming students with practical issues such us, registration procedures, open a bank account, etc.

Language courses: UBI organises Erasmus Intensive Language Courses - EILC (summer and winter editions) aimed at providing foreign students the opportunity to get familiar with Portuguese language, culture and society before their studies in UBI start.

During the academic year, Portuguese language lectures will take place twice a week. Each student is welcome to attend this language course but these lectures are not a substitute for EILC, but a way to develop the autonomy and the Portuguese language knowledge of each student.

The University of Beira Interior welcomes students and staff with disabilities and provides an information and assistance center.
